So, after sitting at my desk for about 3 hours with nothing else to do, I decided to start a blog! I'm new to this, so bear with me for a couple of days. I thought I'd start off by talking about my wonderful vacation to Kiawah Island, SC. I just got back Saturday night from an awesome week on the beach. The most exciting thing that happened was on the last morning: my dad was sitting on the beach watching me wade in the water (I don't go in past my waist because I am deathly affraid of the ocean...which is going to be a problem in August, but we will discuss that later). As I am getting ready to come back onto shore, my dad screams, "Missy LOOK!". I turned around and a little ways off shore was as shark fin, swimming, thankfully, out towards sea. I SHIT YOU NOT. I almost died of hyperventilation. I ran as fast as my little legs could carry me back to shore. The night before there was a story on the news about sharks being very prevelent off the shores of SC. Needless to say, I probably won't be going back into the ocean for a while...
Other than that, the vaca was awesome. Lots of shopping, drinking wine, and resting. If you know anything about me, you that these are three of my favorite things to do, so it was amazing!! Charleston is so pretty and Kiawah is even better. If you haven't been, I highly recommend it.
As for August, my best friend Martha Meng and I are going to attempt to swim from Alcatraz Island to shore, about a 1.5 mile swim. YIKES! Talk about sharks. We will see if this actually happens. I have total faith in Martha, but as for me...not so sure. I have been training for a couple of months now, but after this shark scare, I'm beginning to think differently about myself...
